“Don’t Tell What He Can do, But How Much Work There Is!” Argues Navya Thereja Kapoor

A lawyer is in the making! My 15 year old, who is going to be a sophomore in the upcoming school year is a Summer Intern at Law offices of Sunita Kapoor, PC. It appears that she inherited her lawyer traits from her genes.

She started the first week of her internship with the reception duties. She practiced how to handle incoming calls, greet the client and directing them to the case manager. Little nervous in the beginning but mastered as she says “her script” quickly. The second week was the admin jobs. Filing and organization. By the third week, she had to be given some thing more challenging. The legal file was handed to her to read an H-1B RFE and the H-1B petition file for facts investigation. Within 2 hours she had these notes ready. I was surprised and amazed at her conclusions. Only experienced Immigration professionals who do H-1B for long time get to this clarity. Her points are:

1. Change some of the terms to show the employer employee relationship
2. Show evidence that the end client is in need of the programs/service and how he can help the end client with his skills
3. Control the detail, too many useless details, get to the point and show the relationship
4. Don’t tell what he can do, but how much work there is
5. Need More proofs
6. No clear location of work where the person will work
